mind map of child labor

Mind map of child labor

This is the mind map of child labor. There are four big branches that says how to stop, influence, reason, and country.
First, 'how to stop' branch is about how we can stop child labor. I thought about donating, changing the law, campaign, help child's family, and don't buy sweatshop's product.
Second branch, 'influence' means who gets what influence of child labor. There are little branches that named consumer, child, family, and global company.
And the third branch, 'reason' is about why child labor happens. I wrote: can't stop to adults, high quality product, cheap labor, to remove dept for reason's details.
Finally, the last branch 'country', I wrote the country that child labor happens. There were Thailand, Nepal, Vietnam, Ghana, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, North Korea, Colombia, India. There were lot more than that, but I couldn't write all of those things. And I think child labor happens at nearly every countries. I was surprised that such many country are doing child labor. There are some more details too, but I think that is so long to explain all about it.
Now, we are done with looking the branches, so let's look at the red lines. Red lines are connections with each thoughts. I connected words that is connected with big ideas or that have similar meanings.

Alex’s Lemonade Stand

Have you heard about ‘Alex’s lemonade stand’? Alexandra “Alex” Scott opened her own lemonade stand when she was only 4 years old. She made her lemonade stand to earn money for children with cancer. She wanted to help the kids who had childhood cancer because she had a cancer, too. She was only 4 years old and had a cancer, but she started the first Alex's Lemonade Stand with her brother to help childhood cancer. Alex held lemonade stand to raise money for childhood cancer even though her health was getting worse, every year from 2000 to 2004 and died at the age of 8 in 2004. She raised over 1million for childhood cancer research in her short life time and her family and her supporters made Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation. I thought Alex is a very incredible girl when I first heard about her. I think it's hard to think she wants to make a lemonade stand to help childhood cancer in 4 years old. I think she might think about the kids who had cancer because they were like her. Maybe she was sad that there are many kids like her and wanted to get them out of pain. It's too sad that she died because of cancer in young age, but I think her effort to help childhood cancer will be remembered by many people.

Boy leader of child labour protest is shot dead

"Boy leader of child labour protest is shot dead" have you heard about this article? It's about one boy who worked at the carpet factory in Pakistan. The boy's name is Iqbal Masih. He worked 10 hours in a day, and he only got 1rupee. Do you know how much is 1 rupee? It's only 0.015 US dollars, and it is 18.16 won in Korea. It means he earned 0.015 dollars for working 10 hours in a day! And working for 10 hours are too hard for young boy. Iqbal was only 12 years old. I was surprised that he is just 1 years older than me. Also, that factory wasn't a good environment to work. The factory was too dirty, dark and cold for the children who works long time. My friends and I pretended to be a worker like Iqbal in the class to understand the workers. We made our classroom cold and dark, and we got our work. It was to hard to standing all the time during work. Also, teachers was keep telling us 'work faster' or 'you aren't working hard enough', and it was very annoying and disrupting. I think it would be terrible to be a real worker. I was just pretending to be a worker so I didn't work very long time and the work wasn't hard as a real work. I wondered why Iqbal was working so hard in that factory. The article that I read said he has to work in that factory because his parents had dept 13,000 rupees to factory's owner. Now we know why Iqbal worked in the factory, so I think you might be curious about why he is shot dead. A boy who worked in a carpet factory is dead because the carpet mafia shotted him. The only reason of his dead was that he outspoken criticism of bonded child labour. This is very unfair. How could they kill young boy who just wanted normal life? But Iqbal was very brave boy. I think he knew he might be killed, but he wanted to stop child labour so he got his courage and outspoken his opinion to the whole world. And I think he's action will give courage to other kids who is doing child labour. But there are still many kids doing child labour. I hope child labour abolish quickly and there would be no more victims like Iqbal.
