Self reflection

Today we did our final practice for graduation and exhibition. When we started the speech, I was a bit nervous because I was the first one who did the speech. But hopefully, I memorized all of my speech so I could do it well. Actually I think it was better than yesterday. And at class, we checked our lesson again and changed some things. We went to school center and checked our materials were all there. Tomorrow is the final exhibition and graduation day. I think time is so fast... I hope we could do it well, all of our classmates. :)

Self-Reflection


Today we did our exhibition and graduation rehearsal. I forgot that we are doing rehearsal today, so I didn't think about my graduation speech. I wrote the script at school at exhibition time. I think I have to edit it and practice it more today. And I have to memorize all of it. Mr Cavanagh said we don't have to memorize it 100%, we can just remember it roughly. I hope I can do my speech well! :)

Lesson

Today, we did our first exhibition lesson to NLCS and BHA students. So for today’s blog, I will write a reflection about our lesson, what did I do well and what do I have to change.

I think I did well about that I included some things interactive in my lesson. The audience could do some things by their self at the lesson. I'm glad that many students were excited at our water testing experiment. And I think showing the video about water pollution and showing our art display was a good idea too.

But I want to change that I didn't prepared some things very well. I had to come again to my classroom to get them(and it made me very tired). And I think we have to add some more details at the instruction. Because when we gave the reflection paper to the audience, they had to fill only ‘I used to think’ box, but we forgot to tell them and they filled out both. Also, we were overtime at the lesson so I want to make our lesson a bit shorter.

This is the end of my reflection. Finally we have only the last lesson! Yay!!!

Tomorrow is the lesson!!!

Hi everyone! I have a good news today, our lesson is finally tomorrow! Yay! So today, we prepared for tomorrow's lesson. Our team's art display was at the Stem-V, so we went to there to get our display. But when we got there, there wasn't anything! We were confused, but the other students said the teachers carried them upstairs. So we went to room 1 at the school center, which is our lesson room and fixed our display. We drilled the screws and put some trashes on the display. Some of you might be surprised that we put trash, but we did that to make the part of the display like polluted water. And after that, we practiced our script. We are planning to do the final practice tomorrow. I hope we could do a great lesson!!!

Lesson Reflection

Yesterday, we did our lesson rehearsal. So at today's blog, I'm going to write my lesson reflection with Mr Cavanagh's question.

What went well in your lesson?

At my lesson, I think it went well that we did water testing with the audience. The audience could know which water is clean by their own experiment.

What didn’t go well?

We forgot to bring some materials that we need at our lesson. I think we have to prepare things better next time.

What do you need to change or improve on for next week?

We have to change some of our plans. For example, we decided to show our art display to the audience. But there will be many people than yesterday, so half of them have to another thing. I'm thinking about showing them a video about our topic.

What impressed you about another groups lesson today?
Between some lessons I have saw yesterday, I think Ara and Yeonseo's lesson was interesting. They're lesson was like a real lesson, not a presentation. They did well because they're lesson did something with the audience.

Now my reflection is done. I hope we could do better at the final lesson, remembering the lesson rehearsal!

Self Reflection

Today our group worked on our lesson. We planned to show the video that introduce water pollution, show our art display, do water testing. Also, we'll give audience a simple question and show them our music piece. Our big idea is testing water quality. So we made a 'I used to think now I think reflection'. We will give it to our audience before and after we test water quality. Now our group have to decide what we have to say at each part specify.

And at art, I kept working on printing things and putting on to the wall. And tomorrow, I have to keep work on that too. Also, we have to hand the panels that we made at the wall. These are too many things to do then we expected. I hope that we can finish it well tomorrow.

We have to do so many things and we have no time!!!

Art

Today, our group used all of our times for our art project. There are no time to finish our art anymore. Today I printed out my information from the computer that I'll put on the design. And I cut and put on them at the design a lot. Hansun kept help me because she finished her job(she's a recorder). And Arim kept working on her 3D design. There were some noises of her put some nails on our design with the drill. At the design, we will put some informations about our group, water pollution Q&A, and our actions. All we have to do is now printing them and putting them on our design. It sounds like easy, but those works take a lot of time then we thought. The design is due tomorrow! We have to work faster. And we have to work on our lesson and essay and other works in our speciallis classes. I'm sure that exhibition is the job that needs a lot of time. Even 10 weeks are too less times! I think I have to use my time wisely. Maybe I could work at it at recess. I thought well that Hansun and I worked after school at our art work.

Daily Reflection

Today we planned more things about our lesson. At the lesson, we are talking about the action that we can take for water pollution, so we added some details on that idea. Our plan for our lesson is, first, to make the audience think, we will put some videos to introduce our topic and show our art design. Second, to make the audience do the action, we will make the audience test water quality at there so they could know how to do it. And third to make the audience reflect, we will give audience a simple question or a quiz. Also, we are planning to show our music piece to them at our lesson. I think now we have to match those ideas into a one good lesson!!

After we planned our lesson, we went to art class to develop our 3D/2D designs. I printed out some notes to put at the wall for our information. It was very hard and annoying because the printer didn't worked well and we had to move around to print it. Also, it was hard to match the sizes exactly so I had to try many times. Next time when I print it, I think I have to think carefully about it. I think the art work is most important for us because we have so~~~~~ many things to do!

At recess, we sold our soap again. The soap was all sold out quickly like yesterday. And at lunch time we made the soap with the JS students. But that job was very complicated. Because we couldn't use the microwave at the cafeteria so we had to get all the way back to the Junior Pod and get the microwave with Mr Cavanagh. Also, we couldn't control the young kids who wants to make the soap quickly. When we went to the field, there were so many students that we couldn't control. I think we have to be more organised when we do our action(and Mr C said it too!).

Daily Reflection

Today, we started to think about our lesson for our final exhibition day. Mr Cavanagh said our lesson is a lesson, not a presentation. So it means we have to make the lesson like we are really teaching instead of just talking. Also, he said we have to make our lesson simple with one topic. We don't have to put all the stuffs that we did at exhibition. Maybe we can choose just one thing and present. For example, at Mr C's example lesson he only talked about the 'responsibility'. So our team discussed about that. And we decided to do our lesson about our action. We didn't started planning details, so we will talk more about our lesson tomorrow.


At morning recess time, we finally sold our natural soap! There were 85 soaps, but even though there were many soaps, it was sold out by the end of the recess. There were so many peoples so it was too confused. Because of that, first we planned we will sell at lunch time too, but we couldn't because there were no more soap. It was good that our soap was popular. We decided to make more today and sell. Also, we will make soap with BHA students tomorrow. Our action was successful!

At art class, we kept designed our project. We had special times to do our artwork. Our team kept making our 3D and 2D design. We coloured our wall with blue colour. And we made the picture and some descriptions that we decided to hang out. And I wrote the writing for my 2D design. And we had to change our design a little bit. Because we made it too complicated and we had no time. This is the third time we changed our plan! We always make a house when we make a 3D design. We did few things for our project, but still our team needs a bunch of time. We will come at lunch recess and finish our project, too. I think we have to work really fast!

Action-Natural Soap

At Friday, our group talked about our action. Our action is to sell natural soap that we made and making natural soap with our school students. We decided to make natural soap to solve water pollution. Some soaps can pollute water because they contain some chemicals. So we made our soap with natural ingredients to solve water pollution. Anyway, at school, we talked about when and where to sell. Also, we made a poster and sticked it. We asked Mr C where to put the posters, and he suggested to sticked it at bathroom because people uses soap at bathroom. So we sticked those posters at JS bathrooms. I hope our action goes well!!

And lastly I have something to tell to some students. Some students ask us like this, "does that soap actually help to solve water pollution? Anyway, Natural soap contains a bit of chemicals too." We can't answer them one by one, so I'll write here. "Yes, Natural soap contains a bit of chemicals. And what? At last it contains less than regular soaps. It'll help to solve water pollution at last a little bit. It's better than not doing anything. If you don't want to pollute water perfectly, you can't use any soap or other things. Our action is to help to solve water pollution in our best." I will say like this. And please don't say those words meanly. Because yesterday, one of my teammate said she was sad because of those words.

Essay Writing

Today, we worked on our essay writing at school. I finished writing my conclusion today. After I finished my writing, I checked my article with Mrs. Matthews. She said I have to write more about the quote or something that can support my opinion. So tomorrow I think I will work on it. I hope that I can finish my essay well!

Exhibition Reflect

Today, we worked on our music piece. We practiced at matching the song with piano. I played the piano and Arim and Hansun sang the song. It was a bit hard because sometimes I was wrong with my music and sometimes Arim and Hansun was wrong with the song's tempo or texts. There's no time and we still have some mistakes, so I think we have to practice a lot at our music.

And at class time, we focused at our essay writing. I used some of my research and action to write my essay. I finished my body paragraph and introduction, so I'm planning to write my conclusion and edit it. Our essay has to done by next Friday, so I have to hurry up!

And we had special art class today. Mr Hammond, who is our art teacher said we need more time for our art work. So we had one more time period today for our art work. We finished making our model and started building, and I kept working on my 2D design. It was fun to do it, but we have only one more time period. We decided to come at lunch recess and do our work, too. 

Wow! After I write everything and read it, I could find that all things we have to do it has no time! What a surprise that we have only one week left to prepare our work. I hope we could finish our work on time.

Action Assembly

We did something special today! Guess what! We did....

So at today's blog, I'll tell you about today's assembly. At the PAC, we did our presentation in front of JS and our parents. There were many people at PAC, so I was a bit nervous when I presented. But fortunately, I didn't make a mistake at saying. And I think it was good that we prepared clean water and dirty water and asked the audience which looks like clean instead of the video. But we had a mistake at our time part. We didn't expect the audience won't say the correct answer at the quiz, so we took so many times at it. Also, I have to change one thing at presenting. I think I have to say like communicating, not just saying. I want to do better next time, remembering today's assembly.

EXHIBITION REFLECT

Today, we did our action assembly rehearsal at PAC. We could know what do we have to change at our assembly by our rehearsal. The audience expressed their idea by their arms after the assembly. After the rehearsal, our team added something more interesting than that we did before. That idea is... secret! You'll see some changes at tomorrow assembly. I think the rehearsal was useful because we could change our presentation more interesting. And at the class, I started to write my article about water pollution. I just started now, but I will write hard about it! I think it will be hard but fun writing about my lines of inquiry. And at the art class, we kept working at our job. I think I'm clear with what I'm doing than before, but we have very less time! I was surprised that we have only 2 weeks left. Our group decided to come at recess and work on our art, too.

Assembly

Yesterday our blog task is to write about presentation, assembly, or lesson that was interactive and/or entertaining to me. And today's blog task is writing about my assembly to make the presentation interactive. I have few ideas to make my presentation interactive.

First thing is, I can show a video about our topic. But it has to be short because our presentation has to be only 3 minuets. I searched for the video in youtube, and I founded one short video about water pollution. It was short so it didn't tell so many things in it, but I think it might impact people about water pollution.


The second thing is, we could put some interesting pictures. I think filling the slide with only texts won't entertain the audience so much. So, we will put some pictures and graphs about our actions.


The last thing is, our team decided to give a short quiz to audience. I think quiz will make audience more active. Also, it will be interactive about the presentation.

Today I wrote about some ways to make the presentation more interactive. I hope we could use these at the real assembly, too!

Assembly

These days, we are preparing our presentation for assembly. And our main focus is how we can make our presentations interactive to the audiences. Today, our blog task is to explain the details about a presentation, assembly, or lesson that was interactive and/or entertaining. If I think about the latest lesson, I remember the lesson that we solved some questions and discussed about it(Mr Cavanagh's example lesson). I remember that we solved the Kahoot quiz. It was fun because it made us to think about the topic, and at the same time we could get some informations from it. And I also liked the part that we discussed about the different perspectives. It made us to understand the problem well. At our presentation, our group decided to make some quiz to make the presentation more interactive. Also, we will show the video that connected to our topic. And we are thinking about the other ways, too. I hope we could entertain the audience well at the assembly!

Compass Points reflection

Today, I will write a compass points reflection with this picture. This is the picture of the 'PYPX To do list'. It gives some informations about what do we have to do during exhibition, and when do we have to finish. Anyway, now I'll start my compass points reflection. 

First, I think I have to know more about 2D/3D design. Because I want to know about it even little information about it, like how are we going to make it and when do we make it. And sometimes I don't have any good ideas to create my artwork. I want to make sure that I understand the task perfectly and do it correctly. 
And the items on the list that I'm excited about is our Music/Dance/Drama item. Because now our group is working hard at composing the song and matching with piano. It's fun to create a music piece and practice it. And I think we can make a good job at this if we work hard and focus on it.
And about my exhibition, I didn't finished some of them(something isn't even started!), and I don't know how to do it well. But, still I think I'm making a good progress because I have many ideas about the other things, and some of them are done successfully.
And I'm most worried about presenting the exhibition lesson. I'm worried about the presenting part, because I might not get to talk and present well. Also, we might have no idea how to finish it and make a bad work.

By today's blogging task, now I know about what do I have to work on more and what did I do well. So during the last of the exhibition time, I will try to solve some problems about my exhibition, and I'll keep going well on the part that I like!

Daily reflection

Today in art, we got our new work to do. Architect's job was to build a model of their 3D project. Our architect is Arim, and I saw the process of her making. I thought it was very interesting job. And recorder's job was collecting more informations. Our recorder is Hansun, and I saw her taking some pictures and gathered informations. And the graphic designer(that's me!!!)'s job was making 5 colours that is related to our topic. Our team's topic is water pollution and our colour is red, green, black, blue and white. I chose those colours because red is the colour of oil spill, green and white is the colour for clean nature or environment. Black is for polluted water, and blue is for clean water. And now I have to make a 2D design with those colours!!!

And at class exhibition time, we talked about our presentation. We discussed about what are we going to present about and how can we do it well. And we chose where to present and submitted the google form. Also, I remembered we did the kahoot question and after that, we discussed about the topic. We discussed a lot... 

I think I have to work hard and make some good ideas during exhibition. Also, it's important to manage our times! Oh my god, we already pasted the half of exhibition!!! We must work quickly.

Math Test

On Friday, we did math test at school. The math test were about fractions, decimals and percentages. I was nervous before I started. But when I got the math paper and started to solve, it wasn't very hard. I took many times thinking about the problems. So if I understand the question correctly or didn't made a mistake, I think I could get a good score. And if I want to get higher score, I think I have to work hard on Khan Academy and Mathletics. Because I think it's the best way to develop my math skills by myself. I will work harder at my math skills, because math skills are very important things!

Daily Reflection

Today at school, I did student led conferences. Last time when I did it, there were only me, teacher and my mom, and we talked about my school works. But today, we all talked about our exhibition, and we did with our exhibition team members. We talked about our central idea(topic), our research, action and field trip. We could tell our mothers about our exhibition, and they talked with us about how can we do our exhibition more successfully. I think student led conference was good chance to understand exhibition.

And after school, our group went field trip. We went to Geumneung beach, Andeok vally, Cheonjeyeon waterfall and Hwasun beach. We borrowed the water testing kit, and checked the water's quality. We could know which water is cleaner. And we also picked up some trash at Geumneung beach. There were so many trashes at the beach. After our field trip, we did some additional experimentation at home. We tested tap water and Filtered water. Today's field trip was useful because we could know more information about our topic.(Also, we could play after our field trip!!!)

exhibition reflection

Today, I will write a blog post about our exhibition reflection. At the first and second period, we went to music or drama. When we first discussed where to go, music or drama, we decided to do drama. But last week when we started to go to the class, we changed our mind and went to music class. I think we have to think carefully when we are choosing something. Anyway, we decide to compose one song's text for music. Our song is <A Thousand Years>. I am playing the piano and Hansun and Arim will sing. And we worked on composing the song today. Composing wasn't very easy. I think it's hard because we have to both think about our topic's message and the rhythm of the song. We finished the part one today, and we are going to do part two next week. I think I have to practice my piano hard to do the music successfully.

And at the class discussion, we talked about tomorrow's student led conferences. Mrs Archie told us the way to go through the conferences, and we talked about what we can talk about at the conference. We said we could talk about our topic, actions, field trip, and research. I think we can tell our parents all about our exhibition work. Also, Mrs Archie said that we are going to lead the conference because it's a 'student led' conference. I hope I could do well at leading the conference!! And at the free exhibition time, we did some more researches and took some notes. We searched about more information about the water pollution, our action and field trip. We decided to go field trip tomorrow after the conference. I think it will be fun to go at somewhere and do exhibition!

Blob Tree



Today our blog task is doing our blob tree reflection again. And I will compare my last time's blob and today's blob. Last time, I was the blob all the way down the tree, starting to climb. And today, I am the blob that are sitting with it's friend by the middle of the tree. Actually, I made a purple circle on them to see more clearly. I think that blob is me because our team is cooperating well these days. And we did more works, like research and planing our action during these few weeks. So I thought I went higher than before. Seeing by the blob tree, I think I did quite good work during exhibition. I think I did well because I climbed higher and I see that blob looks like more comfortable than my last blob. Truly, I did more work and I feel more comfortable than when I first started exhibition. Now I feel like I'm climbing the exhibition tree higher and higher. I'm still not at the top, so I will work hard to finish climbing the exhibition tree well!

Goals

We did many things during this week's exhibition. Also, we need to finish some things in coming weeks. We need to finish our action plan, research and field trip in these weeks. And what my group have done is researching. Also, we did organizing our thoughts and plans and get some informations. But I think we spent most time on researching. I think time management is important for these few weeks. Because we have to finish lots of things in short terms. At today's art class, most of students didn't do their homework, so we couldn't do the next step. And I think those student weren't managing their time very well. And I have some goals during this term. I want to get done with these things:

1. Thinking about our action in more specific way.
2. Getting more information about water pollution.
3. Organizing our thoughts well and using time wisely.

I will remember these goals and try to keep.

My topic is water pollution, so I want to tell people that water pollution is a serious problem. If many people feel that we have to fix the issue, it will be much easier to fix it. Also, I want to do the action that can stop water pollution by me(not asking to others), like 'using less soap'. And I hope the result of my action will be fixing water pollution. Also, I think it will be great if others think we have to stop water pollution. I will try to do my action as best as I can!

The Importance of Taking Notes

'The importance of taking notes'. Today I saw this video because Mrs. Archie tolled us about this video. Like the title of the video, it was about the importance of note taking. The front of the video proved about taking note is important. When two people prepared their presentation, one people took note and the other didn't. And when they present their presentation, the person who did note taking remembered lots of things and did his presentation very well. But the one who didn't took note couldn't remember many things so his presentation was very short and didn't give lots of information. I think taking notes are important because we can remember the contents well if we take note. We can read the note when we want to, and we will able to review those information. I usually didn't took notes very well because it's quite troublesome to me. But now I know the importance of taking notes, and I will try to take notes from now on.

Attitude and Learner profile

Today, our task is to choose and explain about attitude and Learner profile.
First, I used the attitude 'creativity' today. Creativity is to be creative and imaginative in our thinking. I was creative when I made our team's button in art class. Making button is similar to making a team logo. I put our team name, central idea, team member's name and a picture. I think I was creative because I thought about button's shape and create it. 
And the second thing is explaining about the attitude that I would like to use it during this week. The attitude that I'd like to use is 'cooperate'. Cooperate means to work together with others. And I want to use this attitude because we have to work together as a team during exhibition. So I think cooperate will be important to me.
